Employment History

Employment history may be the purpose of a resumé but this page was designed to go into the detail that a resumé can not.

My first job was your usual high school job. Sophomore year of high school I worked for Douden's Drug Store, an old-time drug store downtown (which has since sadly been run out of business buy the chains). I mostly manned the register, stocked shelves, and filled some prescriptions. I came home with about thirty bucks a week and just as many paper cuts.

The summer after was the beginning of one of the best high school jobs out there. I got a job with my two best friends at The Place, a great outdoor seafood restaurant. It was anything but easy; on hot summer days I would be outside cooking over a hot fire up to 12 hours straight. This was a fun job, with some of the best employees (and bosses!) I could ask to work with. I continued this job for five summers straight, and I'm sure I will be back once in a while.

At college I work part-time for ResCOM (a.k.a. ResNET). I am a Macintosh support person, making house calls to fix other students' computer problems, as well as technical support for connecting to the campus network for both Macs and PCs. Another fun job with a great boss and set of employees.

After sophomore year of college I interned at Heliotrope Studios midweek while working at The Place on weekends. At Heliotrope I worked on development of the PC space strategy game Pax Imperia: Eminant Domain, distributed by the Playstation giant THQ, Inc. This was an incredible experience, experiencing industry first-hand, as well as game production from the developer's aspect. I programmed different parts in the of the game in C++ and gave input into many aspects of the game's design.

In the summer of 1999, after junior year of college I went down to Dallas, TX to intern for Texas Instruments. Already having several years of experience with their graphing calculators, I worked for the Educational and Productivity Solutions department on several different projects involving their different models of calculators. This included z80 assembly and 68000 C++ programming for on-calculator applications, design of a calculator-based network and protocols, and vigorous testing of various calculator applications, development solutions, and computer-side calculator link software. In addition to the technical experience I obtained, I gained the experience of living away from home and working in a large corporate environment.

I will be graduating in May of 2000 with a degree in Computer Engineering and a minor in Electrical Engineering. I am looking for a permanent job following graduation, preferably in the hardware engineering area.
