About Josh Wardell

Web Site Info

I started browsing the web in 1995 when AOL first offered its browser and web access to Mac users. In November 1995 AOL started offering space for its users for ftp and web, and I quickly taught myself HTML by looking at the source of other pages. I used a text editor (which I still use) to make my home page, and later added an info page, a links page, and a page with my files and programs (the only original one still around). Since then I have continuously updated my pages while improving my HTML knowledge. Over time I added a page for the TI-82 graphing calculator, a site for skiing resources called SkiWeb, a TI-92 page, and a TI-83 page, all of which have been discontinued. After graduating high school I also made a site for my class.

Once at college most of my site moved to its web server (web.syr.edu), and by second semester I started a server on my own machine at school, jwardell.syr.edu. Here I hosted many large files that couldn't otherwise be online. This included a MOD archive, an Apple Commercial archive, and a webcam, all of which have pretty much beed discontinued (Ahh..where did the time go?). But the biggest hit of all my web pages has been my Pearl Jam .mp3 Archive, a site devoted to live recordings of Pearl Jam. This made national news in December of 1997 when I posted clips of an upcoming album, which you may want to read about. I also made a DVD page well before the format was introduced, which currently catalogs my collection.

My TI-92 and TI-83 pages were the first of their kind on the internet. My Pearl Jam Archive was the first .mp3 site devoted to one artist and also the first legal .mp3 site. I have done other sites, including one for the URP, The Place, and some pages for Orange Source. You may wish to visit the full index of my web pages.

Below are past versions of my home page, from 1996 and 1997, respectively:
