What's all that white stuff?! I was just wondering how my MINI would handle in the snow this morning, when I was 37 degrees on my temp gauge. I'm sure 37 sounds like pretty balmy weather to you... Great BLOG, I'm glad I found it!!

Josh,

As Han tells Luke, "don't get cocky!" Hakkas are good, but there are still considerable limits.

blalor: Nokian does make some winter rated "all season" tires that many of the NYC area folks I know who ski in Vermont swear by as a resonable compromise for dry road performance day to day, and snow safety when making the drive north to ski. The Nokian WR is this year's model in that category.

Great info! I'm kind of undecided which way I should go with snow tires. I'm planning on getting a new set of wheels and performance tires in the spring; I'm also planning on doing a bunch more track days next year. That'll leave me with the S-Lites and a decision. My run-flats were really worn on the front after 7k miles, and they pretty much suck all-around ("all season" apparently means *bad* in all seasons...). Indianapolis doesn't really get enough snow to warrant dedicated über snow tires like your Nokians, however. I'm not even sure that we get enough to warrant snow tires, period. Maybe I'll just try to find a good M+S tire for November to March or something.
