Fossils and Mass Extinctions
Project Description: Students will learn to prepare, identify, and interpret marine invertebrate fossils from the Wrangell Mountains and Aleutian Ranges of Alaska. Students who are especially motivated and hardworking may also be invited to participate in Alaskan fieldwork.
Student Roles/Responsibilities: To devote time to doing background readings in the project. To work in Dr. Newton's lab on fossil preparation and identification. To have weekly or biweekly meetings with Dr. Newton to discuss the project.
Minimum Qualifications: Students should have taken GOL 101-102.
