Valentine One

The biggest gift my MINI got this christmas is a V1 radar detector. I replaced my 6-your-old Bel 980. As usual, I made sure to do a custom install job, this time involving a saw and a soldering iron!

The details and photos are on my dedicated V1 page. Click through to find out why this was disassembled:

  1. What happens if/when you’re in Virginia?

  2. Or DC?

Got a question about accuracy of the upper unit with the slope of the roof. Doesn’t it need a straighter site line? My Escort 8500 seems to work even laying on the floor but I wonder how accurate it could be. What’s the deal with the unit by the tach? Just a satellite unit?

It’s funny how many people say “those things are illegal ain’t they!?” Misconceptions and urban legends, misconceptions and urban legends, as a art director I had used to say!

  3. Turn it off? Stick it in the glovebox? Don’t get caught? 🙂

I’m going to have to try some 0603s next week in the Alpine HU 🙁

  5. I see you mounted the concealed display where I mounted mine. Any regrets?
